BUILDING LEBICAD PRIMARY SCHOOL Many people around the world make the claim, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can change the world,” and at the Lebicad community, it is easy to see that no changes have occurred over the years as there is no school to shape the young children growing up in the village. For the growing up children of Lebicad village, every day and every year is the same and they experience no difference in life because a vital social institution is missing, education. In the village and its surroundings, 10 km sun rise of Beled Hawo town, the number of school age is dramatically on the increase yet the long-term drought and flood affected community of Lebicad cannot avoid building a primary school to give children to access at least some form of formal education. Earlier this year, the village head have learnt the DRC’s new initiative, the DIALOGUE project. The community held a big meeting where almost all the community members attended and unanimously agreed that building a primary school should remain first priority. Besides this, they formed various committees to carry out the fund raising mission. The DIALOGUE project will support them by contributing 50% of the total budget the school project. Every single donation would be directly invested into the project. We promise to constantly provide you with updates as we start work till its completion. We know we can achieve this together. The DIALOGUE project is a resource mobilization initiative by DRC to contribute 50% of the total cost of community and public project to create trust between Somali people and their government in the management of their own development
