BUILDING KAXAARAY PRIMARY SCHOOL Kaxaray is a small village 5kms north of Dollow and has an ever growing student community of 200 with no school building. For the past years, students attended their lessons and rehearsed in temporary aluminum trailers that were never replaced following floods and heavy rain falls. The drought-affected agro-pastoral community thinks the only way they can bring change and alleviate poverty is education. The aluminum trailers have no covering above and don’t protect them from blazing sun, dust winds and rains resulting fewer hours of study. This open space discourages student to focus on their education and in the meantime is not a safer environment for better learning. The education loving community, lot of times organized several meetings to advocate for the renovation and extention of the school but was not successful until they heard about the DIALOGUE project. The DIALOGUE project is a resource mobilization initiative by DRC to contribute 50% of the total cost of community and public project to create trust between Somali people and their government in the management of their own development. in fact, right now, the community wants to a school building made up of three brick class rooms and one school yard. Thus the community kindly seeks your help and assistance to enable us raise the funding needed to take this project to a successful completion and put a smile on the faces of the kids. We appeal to you to share the information with your friends, family, colleagues at work etc.
