SHIRKO AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT Shirko is settled by a farming community and is located almost 12 Kms to the south of Beled Hawo town. They are community of poor families; some families have enough land to build a home and farm a small plot of land, while others only have enough land for a small space to live. The majority of families haven’t been educated and do not know how to read or write. “Before we heard DIALOGUE Project of DRC, we weren’t an organized community, and many community members didn’t have much hope for change”. Says paramount community leader. After experiencing long-term drought and then floods, most of their land was damaged and they need immediate recovery to restore their life. Since they involved DRC’s DIALOGUE initiative, they began working here is in community organization. They began with the formation of a Community Development Committees, a group of leaders responsible for envisioning and promoting the development of the community. This council formed various committees committed to things like working for a general management, controlling finance, procurement management and monitoring and accountability promotion in order to address the needs of the Shirko community. Key among the support agricultural development project, where they seek help in the following area: • Provision of farming tools • Provision of solar system for irrigation purposes • Provision of seeds • Rehabilitation of community wells and borehole. As the DIALOGUE project contributes 50% of the total budget needed by the community, the community passionately expects you to join them in this journey to reach the financial goal shown on this platform to boost the economic status of farmers and settlers in Shirko village and help them improve confidence and create positivity among farming communities. The DIALOGUE project is a resource mobilization initiative by DRC to contribute 50% of the total cost of community and public project to create trust between Somali people and their government in the management of their own development
