Using a participatory community consultation process, Qod Qod village prioritized the installation of solar Hub. This will promote the community to be able to access to affordable solar energy for charging their mobiles light. each household has at least 3 mobile phones that they charge at the neighbouring district at a cost of 0.5dollar and they also incur transportation cost. With the installation of solar hub.
Qod Qod village is in Mataban District, Hiran region of Hirshabelle state of Somalia with an estimated population of approximately 560 households. Its situated to east of Mataban and it borders with Guiricel district of Galmudug state of Somalia.
Qod Qod community previously participated in the Co Funding Mechanisms under Degan Bille Hirshabelle and FCDO, the community fund-raised for fencing of 5farms and the construction of District Administration through FCDO. And now the community have fund raised $5000 for the installation of Solar Hub and IOM will match with $45000 at a cost of $50000 at a ratio of 1:9. The community has Community Project Implementing (CPIU) who represent the larger community and will lead the implementation of the selected priorities from fundraising to completion of the solar hub.
Qod Qod village and surrounding areas will immediately access affordable power for mobile charging. Communities will enjoy better access to other infrastructures such as livestock markets, thereby improving economic activities. Through continued access to information, the socioeconomic value chain in Mataban will be strengthened. Currently communities travel to charge their phones.
Thank you for contributing towards improving the needs of the community, the installation of the solar hub will also be a source of employment since there is need for the community to identify an operator of the solar Hub.
