In support of the people of Turbi, providing educational services to the community
Using a participatory community consultation process, the Turbi community prioritized the construction of a primary school. This will address the critical educational needs of children in the area.
Turbi is a cluster of approximately 10 villages that lies 17 kilometers west of Balanbale town in Galguduud Region, of Galmudug State. To date, the local communities have no access to certain basic services, including formal primary education. The absence of a primary school negatively impacts communities as apart from missing out on knowledge that children learn from school; it reduces their chances to access further education as well as work in the future. Construction of the primary school can change this by providing access to education to a total of approximately 150 pupils.
This can be done through the matching grant activity through Daryeel project that supplements the funds raised by the community at a set ratio. As the primary school will benefit all those residing in Turbi, which requires collaboration across different groups and clans, the matching grant ratio will be 1 to 2. Community contribution expected is $10,000 with the project matching $20,000.
The primary school was identified as a priority project through inclusive Community Based Planning (CBP) conducted in Turbi village in April 2021. This process was government-led, and community-owned bringing together representatives from different socioeconomic groups in the community to jointly assess their location including mapping resources, understanding the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to the community, and to identify the priorities of the community.
Thank you for contributing towards building the educational foundations of Turbi children through the construction of a primary school. This will benefit the whole Turbi community!
