Not long ago that most of today’s Iidan communities were influential farmers and livestock owners in Digaaxley, Boqoro, Qabri Sheikh and its surrounding but today they found home in Iidan village as IDPs after a constant drone strikes and prolonged drought. Life become unbearable for them before them finally settled here as the village head reported. The young village is 5km from Beledhawo that hosts more than 800 households who majorly depend on aid is struggling with water scarcity. The neighboring water trucks bring water to the villages and stores in two privately owned reservoirs and these get used up in the first few hours of the day and how about the afternoon and evening when most of family activities are taking place. It is also true that some community members who can’t avoid water trucks walk long under the blazing sun for hours through the scary forest with deadly animals and slopes that make you tired to get a jerikan of water. The community has been struggling with this for a while and finally organized a general meeting where all the community parts fully participated and unanimously agreed to push this project to create life in this area. The project is about installing water kiosks in four different part of the village from the nearest borehole. In this very demanding project, the community appeals you to support us to get reliable water source for them to reduce the long distance they travel and the high cost at which the trucks bring water.
