BUILDING ODA PRIMARY SCHOOL Oda Primary school is located in the deprived village or community of Oda the Beled HAWO District of Gedo Region, Somalia. It has an estimated population of 250 pupils learning in an existing four -unit classrooms made up of old tree branches with old iron sheet roofs. The current state of the classroom, however, prevents the pupils from having a conducive atmosphere for learning related activities. This is exacerbated by the fact that parents of the pupils do not have the resources to improve conditions at the school and provide essential items for the pupils to use at school. Key among the many issues (assessed together with the school authorities) facing the school are the following: 1. The dilapidated state of classrooms requiring replacement or to be made bricks; 2. No chairs or desks for pupils to sit on to write and learn; 3. Tattered school uniforms for the pupils. Cognizant the fact that we can change the world one [child] at a time by giving these kids the best gift of education like their colleagues in urban areas, it is our desire to assist the school create a conducive atmosphere as well as help the pupils with essential materials to facilitate their learning. Enhancing the pedagogical environment for these kids may play a major role in making them change agents of their environment/communities and the world at large. Join the Oda community in fundraising for the re-building the school to create a safe place for the students to study with good scenery. 50% of the total budget for re-building the school will be contributed by the new initiative of DRC, The DIALOGUE project. The DIALOGUE project is a resource mobilization initiative by DRC to contribute 50% of the total cost of community and public project to create trust between Somali people and their government in the management of their own development
