The recently liberated Burdhubo town sits on the Jubba river in Jubba valley, between the two famous cities of Bardera and Luuq. The close to 19,000 inhabitants cultivate crops on farms along the banks of the river and some lead pastoral life style herding camel, cattle, goats and sheep. Since, its liberation the town has seen new business activities and population growth however, one of the biggest challenge remained infrastructure particularly the main road that runs through the CBD. As a result of the conflict, insecurity and insufficient maintenance, the transport infrastructure, which is vital for the country’s economic and social development, is in a very poor condition in major areas of Somalia. The inadequate road infrastructure Gedo region particularly Burdhubo town is not only preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid and live saving efforts; it is also a major constraint on the population’s access to social services and business development as well as a significant obstacle to the political administration decentralization. Many times the community members tried to rehabilitate the main road but that did not come until recently when most of the community observed its deteriorations. DIALOGUE project is among factors that motivated community to finally gather and assume self help approach to rehabilitate the road that serves such a big community. The DIALOGUE project is a resource mobilization initiative by DRC that contributes greater amount of the total cost of community and public project to create trust between Somali people and their government in the management of their own development. In this project, DIALOGUE initiative will provide matching fund of 1:4 which means if the community raises ten thousand dollars, the matching fund will be forty thousand dollars. The community appeals you to join them sincerely to collect the earlier mentioned goal to rehabilitate the main road that runs from the town’s mini bridge to the police station. The rehabilitation process will cover: • Clearing the weeds and unwanted plants grown in the road to create more space for driving • Backfilling the cracks and holes in the road • Raise the banks of the road for drainage purposes • Restoring the road space by pushing back the nearby building that extended to the road space
